Business Lessons from a Drug Dealer

June 12, 2021 By Paramjeet Singh 1 Comment

Everybody who watches TV series would have seen or at least heard of Breaking Bad. It is a crime drama aired on American Television between 2008- 2013. Breaking Bad is considered one of the all-time greats and has won many awards and accolades.

The plot revolves around its main protagonist, Walter White, a meek high school chemistry teacher who transforms into a ruthless player in the local methamphetamine drug trade, driven by a desire to financially provide for his family after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.

Walter White of Breaking Bad, an ordinary Chemistry teacher, turned drug kingpin, is not only the main protagonist of a gripping crime drama but from a very different perspective gives us some profound Business lessons.

Business Lessons from a Drug Dealer

Here are four Business Lessons I gathered from Walter White of Breaking Bad:

  1. Don’t take product for granted

Every Business, whether they provide a product or service should always remember this. The aim of any successful business is to create best product in the market before your customers find it elsewhere. If a business compromises on quality, they will eventually be out of business.

  2. Word of Mouth Marketing

Never underestimate the word of mouth marketing. If your product is good, people will talk about it. Word of mouth matters.  Especially in today’s world of Social Media and extreme connectivity what people say about you and your product makes a difference.

  3. Freemium Business Model

Give a little for free and keep them coming back for more. If your product is good, let people have a taste of it. The quality of your product or service will keep them coming back and they will not stop talking about it.

  4. Control Supply

Though may not apply for every business but control supply of the market and keep prices high. It will help you maintain the quality and the buzz about your product.

So these are some key takeaways every business can apply to grow their business and increase profits. If you have comments feel free to drop a line below. If you like it, share it with others who may find this useful.
