Star Wars, as everyone is aware, is the epic space opera. Yoda is a fictional character in Star Wars, who serves as a the Grand Master of the Jedi Order. Known for his legendary wisdom, mastery of the Force and skills in light saber combat he is the teacher, philosopher and guide for all Jedi Knights. Here are 5 lessons of wisdom from this awesome little green guy.
Do or do not
#1 Do or do not; there is no try.
when you tell yourself and/or someone else that you will try, you are more likely to give up or just stop when the first obstacle shows up. By making clear choices to do or not to do something – and putting power behind those choices – you are more likely to actually get things done and succeed.
Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
#2 Overcome your fears
Oovercoming your fears is one of the most important things ti improve yourself and grow. If you don’t you will just get stuck. But how will you do it? well, first, as Yoda says, you have to stop avoiding your fears.
You will find only what you bring in
#3 Your world is a reflection of you
You find in your world what you bring into your world. And in your world you can see yourself – your thoughts and behavior – reflected. By observing the world around you can gain insights into yourself and what you may need to improve
Yoda: Help you I can. Tes, mmmm.
Luke: I don’t think so. I’m looking for a great warrior.
Yoda: Ohh great warrior… Wars not make one great.
#4 You may be misunderstood
To further the misunderstanding, Yoda’s way of talking is different than most. Great leaders are often misunderstood by others. The servant leader’s emphasis on service over power and humility over vanity goes against the popular notion. You may be tiny, green, anceint and speak funny, but you will be misunderstood.
Yoda Twisted by the Dark Side, young Skywalker has become. The boy you trained, gone he is.. consumed by Darth Vader.
#5 If you are not careful, your organization may produce a Darth Vader
Yoda expresses concern about young Anakin Skywalker. Sure enough, the worst fears come true and Anakin becomes the evil Darth Vader. Great leaders have a great deal of accountability when mentoring and raising the future generations of their organization. Use care in when hiring, mentoring and promoting.
